Emergency services were called to the flat in Wellington Street around 1pm to reports a baby had fallen from an open window, Bedfordshire Police said. The force said: “The baby has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.” The baby’s age and sex were not revealed by police, who also described the casualty as a “toddler” in a statement. “I was standing outside when I heard screams from a woman, who I saw was in the window directly above India Gardens,” he told the Press Association. Mr Watkins added: “Apparently he was playing by the window, he pushed against and fell.” Support free-thinking journalism and attend Independent events Officers asked anyone who was in the area at the time or who witnessed the incident to contact police on 101 quoting reference 180.
