Leroy Sane cuts out Manchester City's surgeon for knee operation

Leroy Sane will have a knee operation in Austria this weekend having decided against using Manchester City's preferred surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat. Sane was expected to go under Cugat's knife in Barcelona this week to repair the anterior cruciate ligament damage in his right knee sustained during the Community Shield win over Liverpool earlier this month. Leroy Sane decided to choose his own surgeon rather than go with City's preferred choice But Sane has chosen to buck the trend by going to Professor Christian Fink at the Gelenkpunkt Surgery in Innsbruck, a medic he knows through the Germany team who has been recommended by a number of international teammates. Pep Guardiola consoles the injured Sane during the Community Shield clash with Liverpool Professor Fink has operated on several Bayern players and is an associate of Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, Munich's team doctor who briefly left the Bundesliga club following a fall-out with Guardiola during his three-year spell in charge at the Allianz Arena.
