Rahul Gandhi to appear before UP court tomorrow in defamation case

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is leading his party's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, is likely to appear before a local court in Sultanpur in a defamation case. Subsequently, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be paused on Tuesday morning and resume at 2:00 pm the same day. Taking to social media, Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi has been issued a summons to appear before "the District Civil Court in Sultanpur tomorrow morning in connection with a defamation case filed by a BJP leader on August 4, 2018". "The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will, therefore, pause tomorrow morning and will resume the February 20th program at 2 pm from Fursatganj in Amethi," Jairam Ramesh added.
