Akhil Giri cannot talk like that: Mamata Banerjee apologises for Trinamool leader's comment on President

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday tendered an apology on behalf of his minister Akhil Giri, who drew widespread criticism for making controversial remarks about President of India Droupadi Murmu. The Trinamool Congress supremo's apology came days after West Bengal minister Akhil Giri, in a viral video, was heard commenting on the looks of the President and mocking the Bharatiya Janata Party. After widespread condemnation and growing demands to sack Giri over his derogatory remarks against the president, Mamata said that the minister has been cautioned. Several BJP leaders have also sought Banerjee's apology for Giri's comments and clarification that at whose behest he made such 'unfortunate' and 'indecent' remarks.
