New York TimesCINCINNATI — None of the Bengals’ draft picks were at Paycor Stadium on Monday, but their presence certainly was felt in certain corners of the locker room, where it was fallout day as most of the questions centered on the ramifications from the draft. But the fact that the Bengals didn’t draft an offensive lineman should be seen as a vote of confidence for Carman as one of the guys in the mix to win the right tackle job. He heads into 2023 with another position sitting there waiting to be won — a “fresh start,” he said — but a third strike could mean he’d be out of the Bengals’ plans. My whole career, I’ve just kind of followed the competition.” Head coach Zac Taylor said Carman is in the mix for the right tackle job with Jonah Williams, who is making the switch from the left side after the Bengals signed Orlando Brown Jr. La’el Collins is also an option depending on his recovery from ACL surgery, along with free-agent signing Cody Ford and returning linemen D’Ante Smith and Hakeem Adeniji. “Going through it last year, understanding what it’s going to look like, the routine, I think that bodes well,” he said.
