'Incompetent govt': Child rights body slams TMC over minor girl's death in Kaliganj
India TodayOn Sunday, a team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights led by chairperson Priyank Kanoongo visited the residence of a minor tribal girl, who was allegedly raped and killed in West Bengal’s Kaliaganj area in North Dinajpur. Priyank Kanoongo further claimed, "The minor girl’s family told us that the investigation officer has not recorded the statement of any family member yet." On being asked about the West Bengal state commission’s allegations against the NCPCR over the protection of child rights, Priyank Kanoongo slammed the state commission by calling them “incompetent.” "I don't want to make any comments on an incompetent body, working on behalf of an incompetent government, to protect the image of a chief minister." NCPR chairperson’s visit to victim’s residence The chairperson of the child rights body stayed for almost two hours with the victim’s family.
