Farmers elated as BVP will turn into a reality

Deccan Chronicle

Nalgonda: Farmers of seven mandals in this district were elated that their decade-old dream of getting water for their farmland from Bhramana Vellamla Project will soon turn into a reality. The Udaya Samudram Lift Irrigation Scheme can lift 6.70 TMC of water from the foreshore of Udaya Samudram Balancing Reservoir to irrigate one lakh acres and provide drinking water to 107 fluoride-hit villages in the upland areas. Dubba Krishna, a native of Choudampally in Narketpally mandal, said his village is located within two km radius of Brahmana Vellamla Project. Cherukupally Suresh, a farmer of Chowdampally, said he hopes the Congress government will provide irrigation facility to farmers by completing the works of the canals on Brahmana Vellamla Project.
