NSW bushfire victims fight after Queensland farmers receive more cash
ABCIf it wasn't for a small section of white fence and some billboards, it would be hard to see where the rural border community of Wallangarra-Jennings splits into two. The farmers on the NSW side of the border said they had been left behind after the state government failed to secure the same disaster support that Queensland farmers were offered. "Even though it was the same fire, the same day, it burnt just as hard this side of the fence as the other side, the NSW government just doesn't seem to care," he said. Taking up the cause Tim Carpenter had about 90 per cent of his Jennings property burned out last year, and nearly all of his 25 kilometres of internal and boundary fencing was fire damaged. "There'd be very, very few people impacted by the fire who would say they're 100 per cent completed all they need to do to recover, and most people are still looking at a long road ahead for getting everything back in order," Mr Carpenter said.
