Madurai man cheated to the tune of ₹8 lakh

Promising high returns, a man from Abu Dhabi has allegedly duped a 56-year-old man from Madurai. Kumaresh Babu of P and T Nagar here, he had submitted a complaint to the Economic Offences Wing officers for legal action. The petitioner said that when he was working in Abu Dhabi in 2019, he came in contact with a person identified as Ansari of Tirunelveli. Post Covid-19, when Kumaresh Babu returned home, he continued to be in touch with Ansari, who claimed to be working in Abu Dhabi. Believing, Kumaresh Babu had sent ₹8 lakh over a period of two years through bank transfers to the account numbers mentioned by Ansari.
