Waqf Board claims 1,670 properties in Kanpur, 548 on government land: Survey

The three-month-long survey of Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur is now over. A total of 1,670 Waqf properties have been identified in the survey, out of which over 500 are built on government land. The survey, conducted across all four tehsils of Kanpur, identified 914 properties under the Sunni Waqf Board and 34 under the Shia Waqf Board in the Sadar tehsil alone. A total of 548 Waqf properties are situated on government land, many of which house mosques, graveyards, and mausoleums. This time, the survey resumed following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive to remove illegal encroachments and reclaim Waqf land.
