Read our privacy policy A 101-year-old Scottish woman who lived through the Spanish flu pandemic a century ago has received the coronavirus vaccine. The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, the health board which administered Ms Lawson’s vaccine, is immunising 20,000 people per week against the virus with the help of 450 vaccinators. Dr Linda De Caestecker, the board’s director of public health, said the uptake of the vaccine was “very high” in the area so far. On Thursday, health secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that three million people have now received their first Covid-19 dose, tweeting to say he was “delighted” by the news.
