'Big Racket For Bogus Community Certificates In Tamil Nadu' : Madras High Court Asks State To Take Action

The Madras High Court has asked the Government of Tamil Nadu to initiate all appropriate actions to ensure that the issuance of bogus community certificates is stopped in the state, and action has to be taken to prosecute those who are involved in securing such bogus community certificates. “Even if a reference certificate has been given to the authorities, the authenticity of those certificates are also to be verified and in the event of identifying that the said certificates are incorrect, bogus or otherwise, actions are to be initiated to cancel the community certificate and to prosecute those offenders who are involved in securing such bogus community certificates,” the court said. The court directed the District Collector to issue necessary instruction to all Revenue Divisional Officer/Tahsildars to ensure that the Scheduled Tribe community certificate issued in doubtful manner are reviewed and all appropriate action are taken to ascertain the genuineness of the certificate.
