Police officer drives through flames to help Genoa The tiny community of Genoa, which is nestled in far eastern Victoria near the New South Wales border, has also been cut off by fire. CFA chief officer Steve Warrington said they actually spoke to authorities in New South Wales to try to get some fire trucks in from the other side of the border. "A New South Wales police officer drove from Eden through the fire to get into Genoa to provide a bit of leadership into that community," he said.
