Ernakulam District Development Council demands probe into fires

Kochi: The Ernakulam District Development Council which met on Saturday demanded comprehensive police inquiry into the recurring fires at the Kochi corporation waste accumulated at Brahmapuram. It was pointed out that smoke and stench was spreading in 25 km radius from the area and these incidents are occuring after the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the project to generate cooking gas from waste. P. T. Thomas, MLA, demanded an inquiry by a team led by the district collector into these incidents. The MLAs also demanded action to deal with the aggravating drinking water crisis in various parts of the district.
