Heavy rain predicted across Tamil Nadu, orange alert in several districts
India TodayA growing low pressure weather system over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining east Equatorial Indian Ocean is likely to reach Tamil Nadu coast sometime today, bringing fresh spell of intense rainfall across the state, especially over delta regions and north Tamil Nadu districts. The low pressure system could bring widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu on Thursday and RMC Chennai is monitoring it for further growth. For today, December 11, orange alert has been issued in several districts with very heavy rain likely in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Pudukkottai districts, as well as Karaikal, Puducherry. Heavy rain may also occur in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Theni, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Karur, Perambalur, Thoothukudi, and Dindigul districts, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal.The RMC predicted rain across Tamil Nadu until December 16.
