Delhi air quality panel modifies pollution norms. Know new guidelines

The Commission for Air Quality Management has renotified the Graded Response Action Plan for the Delhi-NCR region following the Supreme Court's directions. The air quality panel said that the Supreme Court had asked it to consider imposing several additional measures, which are currently under Stage III of the GRAP, under the GRAP Stage II as well. The air quality panel has invoked GRAP II measures in the capital region since December 12. Stages of GRAP are invoked by the panel based on the air quality index of the capital region. Stage I of the GRAP is invoked when the AQI is 201 to 300, which falls under 'poor' category, while Stage II is invoked when the air quality is 'very poor'.
