Pakistan Assembly dissolved after PM Imran Khan's advice, elections to be held in 90 days
India TodayThe Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly on Sunday rejected the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, terming it against the Constitution and the rules of the country. Addressing the nation shortly after the no-trust vote against him was junked, Imran Khan said he had sent a proposal to President Arif Alvi to dissolve the assemblies, essentially making way for early elections to be held in Pakistan. Pakistan's Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said fresh elections will be held within 90 days. Pakistan National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, who was chairing the crucial session of the lower House, dismissed the no-trust motion against the embattled prime minister, saying it was against Article 5 of the Constitution.
