Engineering seats to go vacant this year too?

Managements of top engineering colleges across the State are worried that the delay in the announcement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test results will see students surrender their engineering seats for placements in medical colleges. While this is a trend that repeats itself every year, the delay may see the exodus occur at a later stage this time when it will be too late to fill the engineering seats. The Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges’ Association approached Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi earlier this week to discuss the issue. K. Mallikarjun Babu, principal of BMS College of Engineering, said last year around 15 seats in the college were vacant as students shifted to medical courses.
