
Regulatory body warns against rising NPS scams, issues these guidelines
India TodayThe Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority has warned the public against fraudulent sms/calls/ e-mails/ websites/ mobile apps/ It has cautioned subscribers of National Pension Scheme and Atal Pension Yojayna regarding fraudulent calls demanding money to release pension funds. Fake websites and mobile apps also mislead NPS/APY subscribers with false promises of unrealistic returns on periodic contributions. These frauds are being perpetrated by The agency further mentioned, “The only official Website of PFRDA is www.pfrda.org.in and the public are advised to be wary of phishing attempts by fake websites that replicate the official website closely with unnoticeable changes in the domain name.” It said PFRDA sends SMS only with Sender ID – PFRDAI and has urged subscribers to verify before sending their responses. PFRDA ADVISES FOLLOWING STEPS IN CASE OF FRAUD DETECTION If you fall victim to cyber fraud, freeze your bank accounts and credit cards and change both your internet and mobile banking passwords.
