Fat people protected against discrimination under New York law

The Telegraph

Fat people will be protected against discrimination in New York under a law passed by the city council on Thursday. The only other major city is San Francisco, although similar laws are under consideration in Massachusetts and New Jersey. “There has been increased momentum with weight discrimination laws over the last few years,” Jennifer Shinall, a professor at Vanderbilt Law School, told the Telegraph. “The fact that this is in New York is symbolic.” Supporters of the law include New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who lost 16 kilograms after switching to a plant-based diet.
