IND-W vs IRE-W: Cricket Ireland backs Aimee Maguire after spinner gets reported for ‘suspect bowling action’
The HinduIreland’s cricket association came out in full support of spinner Aimee Maguire after the player was reported for ‘suspect bowling action’ after the first One Day International between host India and the Irish side in Rajkot. “The staff and players are rallying around Aimee, reassuring her that she will return with a stronger action and will continue to shine on the international stage for many years to come,” said Graeme West, Director of High Performance at Cricket Ireland, as a response to the report lodged by the match officials after the ODI. “Maguire’s bowling action will now be tested under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. The ICC defines an illegal bowling action when a player “is throwing rather than bowling the ball”.
