Last year, Fiona and Tony were given devastating news, but new treatments and technologies are helping them live longer and better. "The diagnosis of cancer certainly does not mean you're going to die tomorrow," says Michael Boyer, Fiona's doctor and chief clinical officer at Sydney's Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. " "If you've never smoked and get lung cancer, you are more likely to have one of those lung cancers that contain a mutation of a gene," Professor Boyer says. "Removing a tumour from middle of the kidney is always a lot harder than when it's on the corners of the kidney," Dr Ahmadi says. "The kidney is actually to scale, so that's exactly the size of your kidney that's the tumour," says Dr Ahmadi, pointing at a black mass sitting very close to blood vessels.
