Bus terminal built at a cost ₹4 crore to reduce congestion not being utilised

Twice inaugurated in February, the Mangaladevi Bus Terminal constructed under the Mangaluru Smart City project, has not been put to use for over a month with none of the city buses utilising it. The terminal, built at a cost of around ₹4 crore along with a primary health centre facility near Mangaladevi Circle, was supposed to reduce traffic congestion around Mangaladevi Temple, about 500 m away from the circle. Letter to RTO Former Mayor and outgoing Mangaladevi ward councillor Premananda Shetty told The Hindu that Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Ravichandra Naik has written to the Mangaluru Senior Regional Transport Officer and Deputy Commissioner for Transport recently on the subject. The commissioner said that MSCL has constructed a well-equipped bus terminal along with bus bay shelter, footpath etc., in Mangaladevi Ward.
