Read our privacy policy The death toll in the suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Pakistan’s northwestern Peshawar city during Friday prayers has risen to 63, with an Isis affiliate claiming responsibility for the attack. The Islamic State in Khorasan Province said a lone suicide bomber from neighbouring Afghanistan shot two police officers guarding the mosque before entering and detonating the device. Pakistan’s prime minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the “cowardly terrorist attack” and directed authorities to provide urgent care to the wounded.
