Al JazeeraZuma, 81, was given a 15-month sentence in June 2021 for refusing to testify in a probe of corruption and cronyism under his presidency. South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma has been released from prison due to a remission of non-violent offenders approved by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has said. South Africa’s prison service, which had granted Zuma’s conditional release, appealed the decision, but the bid was dismissed by the Constitutional Court last month.
