Millions of people are changing their food shopping habits to combat spiralling prices by switching to ‘yellow sticker’ reduced items and cheaper ranges The figures come from research by Ipsos, which said the cost-of-living squeeze means many are being forced to make sacrifices. Ipsos said: ‘With surging supermarket prices, shoppers are being pushed to change where and how they buy groceries as 37 per cent move to cheaper brands. ‘One in three – 34 per cent – have stopped buying non-essential groceries and 32 per cent are buying “yellow sticker” discounted items approaching their use-by date to save money.’ More than one in four wait to buy items until they are on promotion and the same proportion shop around to find better deals.
