In the Ajmer railway division, electric trains use 20 units of electricity to cover one kilometre, costing Indian Railways ₹6.50 per unit, totalling Rs 130 per kilometre. Diesel engines consume about 3.5 to 4 litres of diesel per kilometre, costing approximately Rs 350 to Rs 400 per kilometre.
