BCCI-COA members stay at odds over India women's coach WV Raman's Rs 1.75 crore contract
India TodayWV Raman's remuneration of Rs 1.75 crore per annum as the new head coach of the Indian women's cricket team will be a three fold increase in comparison with what Ramesh Powar fetched. In response to a letter from BCCI CFO seeking approval of Raman's contractual terms, COA member Diana Edulji has written back, reiterating her disapproval of coach appointment process and directed the BCCI management team not to go ahead. "It is prudent to let WV Raman go as the interim coach on his old contract which is valid till June 2019 and let CAC do a fresh process to select a coach instead of shortlisting of 3 and than selecting one as the first choice was hit by conflict as it was known that a particular candidate was conflicted than he should not have been shortlisted," she wrote, citing Gary Kirsten's conflicted position. Like has been the case with BCCI decision making of late, COA Chairman Vinod Rai has overruled Edulji and given a go ahead to the CEO to approve Raman's coaching contract.
