'Human error', 'lack of proper training' led to Mumbai bus tragedy: Report
India TodayDays after a local city bus fatally knocked down seven people and injured 42 others in Mumbai, the city's transport department has suspected that a "human error" and "lack of proper training" led to the horrific accident. A report by Regional Transport Office officials, who conducted a probe after the incident, found that the brakes of the bus were operating well and rejected the possibility that a possible malfunction in the braking system of the bus may have led to the incident, news agency PTI reported, citing sources. An RTO official, who did not wish to be named, told news agency PTI that when the RTO team inspected the bus, they found the brakes of the bus were working fine. "The entire horror has happened within 52-55 seconds," said an official to news agency PTI, adding that, as per the BEST's records, the driver had signed on duty on December 6 at around 2.45 pm, and the accident occurred at about 9.35 pm.
