Boney Kapoor recalls 'pleading' with Lata Mangeshkar for Pukaar: God was kind

Renowned producer Boney Kapoor recently revealed the efforts he made to secure the legendary Lata Mangeshkar’s appearance in the 2000 film - Pukaar - for the iconic song - Ek Tu Hi Bharosa. The producer explained that the idea of involving Lata Mangeshkar came after Santoshi expressed the need for a profoundly revered figure to lend their presence and voice to the song. He said, “In fact, when the situation was thought of, Rajkumar Santoshi told me, ‘Boney, I want either Mother Teresa or Lata Mangeshkar. I need a very pious personality to sing this song.’ Mother Teresa wasn’t there, she had already passed away, and there wasn’t any other choice left for me but to get Lata Mangeshkar.” Kapoor went on to describe his relentless pursuit of the celebrated singer, which lasted for months.
