For context, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro debuted in March 2023 in China as the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, so the Civi 5 might follow a similar trajectory. Regarding the chip’s naming, Qualcomm could opt for the name “Snapdragon 8s Elite” rather than “Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.” However, there’s also a possibility they’ll stick with the Gen 4 label to distinguish it from the Elite branding. The chip has also been referred to by the nickname “fourth generation Snapdragon 8s Extreme Edition” in a translated tip from Chinese, which aligns with previous rumours suggesting the “Elite Edition” might also be labelled as an “Extreme Edition.” The term “fourth generation” implies this chip could belong to the ‘s’ series within the Snapdragon 8 Elite lineup.
