Satellite towns to sprout across Telangana
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: The Telangana state government in order to encourage development across the state has decided to set satellite townships in all municipal corporations, apart from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority limits. The objective is to encourage and promote large-scale integrated development of self-contained townships with private and public initiatives that would result in optimization of land use, leveraging of Outer Ring Road infrastructure and promote transit-oriented development, ensure economies of scale, increase housing facilities, and offer better provision of infrastructural facilities and amenities. As per the Municipal Administration and Urban Development policy on promoting the development of integrated townships with public/private initiatives, the government will have a viable institutional mechanism for promoting such integrated townships. Under category II, a minimum of 50 acres in respect of other Urban Development Authority areas like Kakatiya Urban Development Authority, Nizamabad Urban Development Authority, Satavahana Urban Development Authority Karimnagar, Stambhadri Urban Development Authority Khammam, Siddipet Urban Development Authority and Special Development Authority areas like Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority,Vemulavada Temple Area Development Authority, other municipal corporation areas, and also lands located within 15 kms distance from the boundary of such urban development authority/municipal corporation.
