Money laundering case against me opinionated: Anil Deshmukh tells Bombay High Court
India TodayA day after Supreme Court directions, the Bombay High Court again started hearing the bail application filed by former Maharashtra Home Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh in a money laundering case. Advocates Vikram Chaudhari, Aniket Nikam and Inderpal Singh appearing for Deshmukh argued that the Enforcement Directorate arrested Deshmukh based on evidence which he claimed was not of sterling quality. Deshmukh’s bail application was rejected by the special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act earlier this year when the court held that prima facie there was proof of Deshmukh’s involvement in money laundering. The Court must consider this bail from a holistic angle and the applicant has no past antecedents why he should suffer even a day more in jail?” Chaudhari argued while adding that the main statement that stands out against the former minister is the statement of former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze.
