Election 2016: Result too close to call — and these seats are the reasons why

The final result of the federal election hinges on the fate of eight key seats. The seats going down to the wire are: Sitting Liberal MP Luke Simpkins and Labor candidate, counter-terrorism expert Anne Aly, are neck and neck. Dr Aly faced attacks during the campaign for writing a letter suggesting radical preacher Junaid Thorne could have been a candidate for her de-radicalisation program. The seat has not been in Labor's hands since 1996, but the ALP's Cathy O'Toole has enjoyed a 6.9 per cent swing this election. In Adelaide's west, Labor's Steve Georganas is trying to regain the traditionally Labor-held seat after losing in 2013 to Liberal Matt Williams.
