Why Nitish Kumar wants a probe into the Pegasus snooping controversy
India TodayBihar chief minister Nitish Kumar became the first NDA ally to ask for a probe into the Pegasus snooping controversy. Though Nitish qualified his statement as a personal opinion, his views that the snooping issue deserves “a proper probe” were absolutely unambiguous. Perhaps it is time for the BJP to take note and take some corrective steps.” Another important point is that while the JD has just 45 MLAs against the BJP’s 74, the apparent numerical disadvantage which many thought would allow the saffron party to bully Nitish, is not happening. Though the Bihar government is dependent on the BJP’s 74 MLAs for its survival, the configuration of the Bihar assembly is so peculiarly balanced that an alternative government is possible only if Nitish and his MLAs decide to switch sides.
