With 32 venues themed around the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, folk art, revolutionary periods and the Wenchuan earthquake, the Sichuan Museum of Jianchuan has the greatest nongovernmental capital, construction scale, exhibition area and richest collection of any private museum in China. Since opening to the public in 2005, the museum has received more than 20 million visits and has become an outstanding local cultural landmark. The establishment and operation of the museum has also effectively promoted the development of the local cultural and tourism industries, making Anren town the only “China Museum Town” and one of the first batch of China's characteristic towns.
