THIS THAT has said the difficult decision to call off the 2023 edition – and return of the festival – was made due to the "challenging economic conditions" the team has been facing this year. After considering the negative impact these challenges would have had on the November events in Newcastle and Queensland's Sandstone Point, the team determined it would have been unfair to try and push through and "pull off an event we already knew would not be up to scratch". "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce THIS THAT Sandstone Point and Newcastle festivals will no longer be going ahead," the festival team said in a statement on Friday afternoon.
