In a rare incident, a farmer in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, who was demanding euthanasia, was fined Rs 9.91 lakh by the police who came to stop him. The matter dates back to December 10 when farmer Vidhyadhar Yadav and his family sat on a funeral pyre, demanding euthanasia. According to the notice, the protest required the deployment of 99 police personnel, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, and two Deputy Superintendent of Police, along with the use of official vehicles. Notably, this is the first time Rajasthan Police has issued such a notice in a case related to preventing euthanasia or self-immolation.
