Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in address to the nation announced that the Centre has decided to repeal the three farm laws. The Prime Minister said that measures will be taken in the Winter session of Parliament to repeal the farm laws and appealed to farmers to end their stir and go back to their homes. Many farmers had been protesting and were encamped at Delhi's borders since November 2020 with a demand that the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce Act, 2020, Farmers' Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities Act, 2020 be rolled back and a new law made to guarantee MSP for crops.
