Heaton hails 'outstanding' England rival Pickford
The HinduTom Heaton believes Jordan Pickford has earned the right to be considered England's number one. Everton goalkeeper Pickford was one of the heroes of England's run at the 2018 World Cup, saving pivotally from Carlos Bacca as Gareth Southgate's side saw off Colombia on penalties en route to the semifinals. Asked whether Pickford's mistakes for Everton had opened the door for him to become England's first choice, Heaton replied: "I don't tend to look at it like that, I have to say. A revelation Heaton and club colleague James Tarkowski were joined by Burnley team-mate Dwight McNeil during Tuesday's training session at St George's Park, with Gareth Southgate inviting the promising teenage winger to step up from the Under-20s and make up the numbers with his senior squad.
