Israel has made progress in getting aid into Gaza, but more needs to be done, says US
FirstpostWhile Israel has made progress on ramping up the supply of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, much more remains to be done, said US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin Israel has made some progress in getting more humanitarian assistance into Gaza Strip, but much more needs to be done, said US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The comment comes weeks after Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to Israel on October 13 to warn that US support to Israel will be affected if Israel does not allow sufficient humanitarian assistance into Gaza. In their letter to Israel, Austin and Blinken outlined specific steps, such as allowing at least 350 trucks to enter Gaza a day, implementing pauses in fighting to allow aid delivery, and suspending evacuation orders in areas where no operations are taking place. The concerns arise as Israel has continued with bombings and ground operations in Gaza in a manner that appears to be implementing, at least in part, a controversial plan called ‘Generals’ Plan’.
