SISU exhibition commemorates 75-year anniversary
China DailyA textbook exhibition, a microcosm of the massive textbooks that Shanghai International Studies University has compiled over the past 75 years since its founding, is being held at the school. It was one of the earliest and most influential English textbooks published after China's reform and opening-up, and is still widely used today, having a far-reaching influence in the country's English education sector. Chen Changlai, dean of the new college, said it aims to cultivate international students who know China well and are friendly with China, and also train sinologists for the future. "This is of great significance to the Belt and Road Initiative, and we believe that SISU has its unique advantages for this," said Chen, adding that students from home and abroad will systematically study traditional, modern and contemporary Chinese language, culture and literature during their bachelor's, master's and PhD studies at the college. Zhu Jianjun, vice-dean of the college, said the number of international students from countries and regions involved in the BRI, including Russia and some Southeast Asian countries, has increased significantly in recent years.
