Britpop star fights drug driving charge after he was arrested over claims he was 'intoxicated' at M25 service station following Land Rover crash

A 1990s Britpop star has appeared in court accused of driving his Land Rover while under the influence of drugs. His ex-band's 1997 debut album Attack Of The Grey Lantern knocked Blur off the UK number one spot in February 1997, before they split in May 2003 after a series of hits. Draper appeared at Staines Magistrates' Court, charged with driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs on July 26 last year at a Shell petrol station on the M25 in Cobham, Surrey. Paul Mansun, former frontman of 1990s Britpop band Mansun, has appeared in court accused of driving his Land Rover while under the influence of drugs His ex-band's 1997 debut album Attack of the Grey Lantern knocked Blur off the UK number one spot in February 1997, before they split in May 2003 after a series of hits 'PC Lee Doherty assessed the demeanour of the driver and suspected he was under the influence and admissions are made by Mr Draper at the roadside for prescription drugs.'
