Zheng Xiaoyun pays tribute to his departed mother He Zhihong in front of a statue in honor of He at Yunnan Normal University. These were heartfelt words of 18-year-old Zheng Xiaoyun as he stood in front of the statue of his departed mother at Yunnan Normal University. Zheng's mother He Zhihong lost her life at the age of 35 when a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010, while serving on a UN peacekeeping mission. In 2007, He, an officer with the Kunming frontier checkpoint of Yunnan border police, joined the anti-riot police team to Haiti as a liaison officer.
