Western Australia has a "culture problem" with using a mobile phone while driving, according to the state's road safety commissioner who is rolling out new cameras to target offenders. WA Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner says the cameras will help address a "culture problem". "The purpose of the caution notice is to inform the community about the new type of safety camera … and allow us to test new equipment and make sure it's working 100 per cent right," Road Safety Minister David Michael said. Trial detects unrestrained babies The WA Road Safety Commission trialled the cameras for six months in 2022, detecting 66,000 drivers using their phones.
