At India Today Group event, Nitin Gadkari says new toll policy before April 1

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the government will introduce a new toll policy with a reasonable concession for consumers before 1 April. Speaking at the Business Today Mindrush 2025 event on Saturday, he said the move aims to address concerns about toll charges and improve road infrastructure funding. India’s toll collection has increased significantly, reaching Rs 64,809.86 crore in 2023-24, a 35 per cent rise from the previous year. He said 65 per cent of India's population lives in rural areas but contributes only 12 per cent to national economic growth.
