Are robots coming for YOUR job?

It is far from being the apocalyptic extermination of the human race depicted in films like the Terminator, but it seems the rise of the machines has begun. The five foot tall Knightscope K5 robots are designed to help security guards by spotting suspicious behaviour and alerting controllers According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Review, eight US hotels are currently using a room service robots called Relay or Botlr to carry snacks, toothpastes and letters to guests. The Knightscope security robots feature a suite of sensors including cameras, laser scanners and even odour detectors to help them monitor the surrounding environment A room service robot built by technology firm Savoike is being used in eight hotels in the US to deliver toothpaste, bedding or coffee to guests. Indeed many of the jobs that seem most likely to be taken by robots are those involving monotonous tasks Another technology start up recently unveiled another robot that is patrolling shops for a different reason. A survey conducted last year found that 70 per cent of office managers would consider using a robot on their team and half would not feel bad about replacing human employees with a machine.
