Volunteers to Manage Traffic in Gajuwaka

Deccan Chronicle

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam City police, in association with Vizag chapter of AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry, launched a new concept of traffic management called ‘Traffic Stretch Management’ in Gajuwaka on Saturday. Speaking at the meeting, commissioner of police Dr A. Ravi Shankar said it became necessary to involve the public in traffic management due to increasing road accidents. We constituted a committee recently which recommended having traffic volunteers to assist the traffic police,’’ the commissioner said while inaugurating the traffic outpost. He said 15 volunteers, mostly unemployed, were appointed who would manage one stretch from Sheelanagar to Gajuwaka.
