Only British courts can hear plea challenging arbitration: SC to RIL
FirstpostThe verdict came on an appeal filed by Reliance challenging the Delhi High Court verdict which allowed the central government’s plea challenging the award of London arbitration tribunal against it. New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that only British courts can hear a petition that challenges the decision of a London arbitration tribunal on Panna-Mukta and Tapti gas fields’ contract between Reliance Industries and the Indian government. The court said this while setting aside the Delhi High Court order that said it can hear such a challenge on an award made by the London arbitration tribunal. The verdict came on an appeal filed by Reliance challenging the 23 March, 2013, Delhi High Court verdict by which it allowed the central government’s plea challenging the award of London arbitration tribunal against it.
