
State government should provide ₹30,000 to farmers: Premallatha Vijayakant
The HinduDMDK General Secretary Premallatha Vijayakant expressed concern over the widespread damage to crops in the delta region by heavy rain and urged the State government to provide ₹30,000 an acre as relief to farmers for crops damaged in the downpour on January 18 in Mayiladuthurai district. “The government must act urgently by providing adequate compensation and relax the moisture content limit for paddy to 22% for procurement,” she said. “Both the Union and State governments must work together to deliver immediate relief,” Ms. Premallatha emphasised. Demands CBI Probe Commenting on the charge-sheeting of three persons from the Scheduled Caste community in the Vengaivayal case by the CBCID, Ms. Premallatha alleged that it was a drama staged by the ruling DMK to divert attention.
